anyways, hello i am a totally normal human being :)
castrovulcant asked:
How did this lie start? This is fascinating
i kinda explained it in my tags of the original post but ill go into more detail here
so a coffee shop opened up in my hometown and it was right down the street from the library i worked at so i would stop in there every day before work for coffee. eventually one of the workers was like “i love your glasses!!! are they real?? did you get them online at zenni??” and he was sooo excited i didnt want him to feel dumb for being so hyped and there was a line behind me so it felt easier to be like “yeah theyre real and no i didnt get them online” and he went on and on about how zenni is so cheap for prescription glasses yadda yadda yadda
flash-forward a few weeks later, im still a regular there and out of the blue the owner was like “hey do you have a job? do you want to work here?” and i said i already worked part time at the library but id love to work at the shop! so i started working there and didnt realize how often we would talk about glasses during my time there so it soon got to a point where i was in too deep and had to keep up the lie
aaaand yeah that’s it lol
Anonymous asked:
If you got into that situation again couldn’t you just say you had contact lenses in when you didn’t want to wear the glasses? Kudos to you for previously keeping that up for three years though!
OH THIS REMINDS ME i did do that aldhhsjahdbd like i would show up to work without my glasses and the first thing they would say would be like “woah you’re wearing contacts! you look so different without your glasses!” and i had to be like hahah yeah contacts right
castrovulcant asked:
You stuck to that lie for 3 years???? That is quite the commitment
i had to i was in too deep like we had multiple conversations about glasses throughout the time i worked there
kinda want to start wearing my fake glasses again but i’m still getting over the george costanza of a situation i was in where i lied about them being real to the coffee shop i frequented but then they asked if i wanted to work there out of the blue so i had to keep up that lie for the 3 years i worked there
