How I Spent My Vacation, by spatscolombo

Here are a few of my pictures from my visit to Farragut Fest, Starship Farragut's annual studio open house in south Georgia. I also have (slightly crappier) shots of the captain's quarters/office, Turbo Lift, Jefferies Tubes, shuttlecraft etc. as well, if there's interest in seeing more. Sorry about the lack of quality in the photography. I was taking these as an individual nerd with an eight-year-old camera, not as a TOS blogger. For shame!

Anyway, this was really fun! They only open it to visitors once a year, but they’ll take volunteers to help work on the sets/show pretty much every weekend. Everyone I talked to while I toured the sets was awesome, talented, and very very nice. They love TOS and have found a way to make that fandom creatively productive while cultivating really amazing research (all of these props and materials are from the ’60s and meticulously accurate to the show—oh my god, that tacky upholstery on the sickbay beds gave me goosebumps) and design skills—living the dream. If it’s geographically and temporally possible for you, I highly recommend checking them out in the future!

P.S. Remember when I was complaining that my office chair doesn’t swivel extravagantly enough compared to the captain’s chair? Now that I’ve tasted the real thing I am even more firmly convinced of this fact. Also, by the way, it’s even closer to the science officer’s station than it looks on the show.
