there were a lot of moments in Star Trek Beyond that emotionally compromised me, but as i am irrationally attached to the Enterprise herself i need to vent feels about my very favorite dilithium-powered inanimate object.

The previews made it pretty clear that she was going to be destroyed so it wasn’t a surprise; but watching the extended, gratuitous destruction scene - every puncture to her hull, seeing her nacelles severed, watching the drone ships pick her apart piece by piece - was still painful.

but… 

when Chekov & Kirk are standing looking at the burning ruins of her saucer and kirk says “She still has a few tricks up her sleeve, ” i. lost. mY. SHIT.  OF COURSE SHE DOES BBY. SHE WILL GIVE THE LAST PIECE OF HERSELF FOR YOU.  SHE LOVES YOU ALL.

So I’m reading this new Star Trek comic that I got and it’s post-nemesis where geordi is captain of the enterprise and data’s brain was saved and uploaded to the ship so now he is the ship’s computer, but then Data started to project himself as a hologram to help out around the ship too and now the entire bridge crew… . . are just holograms of data… . And it’s so cute.…

#I'm only on the second page#and it's just captain geordi and his crew of data's#the comic is Star Trek: Waypoint#here is a cute little quote#this is geordi speaking#'we still carry a full complement of staff aboard the enterprise of course#but truth be told if he wanted it Data could run this ship himself#within a month of being uploaded Data began to project holograms of himself performing tasks on the bridge and elsewhere#in his role as ship's computer data has no real need for these physical manifestations#though he has never stated so I believe it is more for my benefit than for his#perhaps knowing that the simple act of being present would be of comfort to me#a small gesture of friendship'#:')#text
