like fuck dude we are literally living the worst case scenario of a home buying process

after counselor troi introduces data to ceramics, he decides to branch out into other 3D mediums. he starts to make abstract sculptures out of scrap metal that he collects from derelict vessels. after he creates several worf-sized humanoid figures (which now reside in his quarters like creepy guardians), geordi suggests that he work on smaller pieces.

“Maybe look into making jewelry. Rings and stuff. That way, it’ll take up less space, and some folks might want to take them home.”

data takes the suggestion literally. two weeks later, he presents geordi with an intricately woven, multi-colored band.

“Oh, wow! This is really cool! Thanks, Data!”

“I am glad that you find the ring to be acceptable. How do you respond to my gesture?”

“Well… I think it’s very nice of you to make me a gift!”

“…Perhaps I have misinterpreted human courting rituals. Is it not standard practice to present a ring to the person you intend to marry?”

I feel like “Masks” deserves its own day of commemoration, too 😂

Feb 21 was when it first aired.

That episode is so iconic and ridiculous, I love it so much. Utterly terribly brilliant.

You’re not wrong

If I’m remembering my Trek trivia correctly, they had to keep filming this episode until some ridiculous hour of the morning because Patrick Stewart and Brent Spiner kept bursting into laughter in the middle of their takes and got the whole thing behind schedule

It’s true and everyone should know it
