When Jadzia was killed off, I was angry at Terry for leaving. When she got the role in the sitcom “Becker” so quickly it looked to an outsider much like she said. Or that a better offer came along and she’d abandoned DS9. But I was wrong, like a lot of people back then.

A few years ago she said for the first time I can recall that she’d wanted to stay in a reduced role. And that the powers that be said “No, all or nothing.” I couldn’t believe it. I was so mad at all of them; Behr, Moore, Berman.

But it wasn’t all of them. Not Moore. Not Behr. It was just Berman and/or the studio. But the others didn’t even know what was going on! No one but Terry and Berman knew.

Berman of course denies it, but then what do you expect? There are dozens of stories about him being difficult and anal. None about Terry being difficult or greedy. Terry willingly gave up acting for over a decade to raise her son, and is only just now trying to get back into things.

Oh and that last paragraph from Berman? How you can’t do a reduced role because you want to do movies? Yeah. Colm Meaney had that arrangement from day one. They arranged his shooting schedule to give him weeks off at a time. So he could keep doing film roles. So that’s just a fucking blatant lie from Berman.

I really hope no one lets this stuff alter their love for Trek. You see here that the other creative people on DS9 didn’t know about what was happening and were outraged to find out after. That they would have stopped it.

Ira Behr, whom I’ve always respected, became visibly ill according to Terry herself. I’ve no doubt he’d have quit in protest if he’d known at the time what was happening. So let that be the thing you remember most: that whatever horse shit Berman might have done, there were good people who did stand up to him (on other occasions) and would have here if they’d known.

In TNG, Gates McFadden was fired for season 2 by Maurice Hurley for complaining about sexism. Patrick Stewart threatened to quit if she wasn’t brought back and Hurley let go. There are many examples of the good people standing up for what was right on the various Trek shows. Remember that. Remember all the good. It doesn’t erase the bad, but it shows that good people who care can make a difference and do more often than not.

I feel sick

I knew about Berman’s homophobia and approving the worst storyline decisions that still stick with me to this day.

Did not know about this. Heard about disagreements, arguments between Terry Farrell and the crew, producers, vague stuff, had no idea it was anything as poisonous as this. I don’t think many people do - it’s kept pretty quiet, except for here.

I hope everyone learns the truth, that Terry Farrell is never blamed for Jadzia’s death or departure ever again, and that she’s happier now than she’s ever been.

-lal’s programming surpassed data’s through android evolution essentially

-lal told data she didn’t want to be different from everyone else

-lal’s ability to feel was a MALFUNCTION

-the fact that she became closer to being human than data could ever hope for ended up costing her life

-“i will feel it for both of us”

-as lal was speaking her final words, she regressed further and further back into her memory, with each word as a concept she had learned throughout the span of her life

deasuluna asked:

Did you enjoy your time filming in New England,MA especially? Did you sight see? Find a new favorite food to crave or you just had to try?

entertainmentweekly answered:

I worked a lot in Boston, so I didn’t have much time to walk around. My Dad wanted me to check out John Adams birthplace in Quincy but I was too busy filming. I got to tool around the North Side a bit, found a coffee shop I liked and of course the breathtaking public library.

The new Ghostbusters visited sick kids in the hospital — and Facebook misogynists are furious

Visiting ill children at Tufts Medical Center should have been an amazing experience for the new Ghostbusters, Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones. But as with many beautiful moments, it was ruined by disgusting commenters. Thankfully, Tufts Medical Center and other Facebook users are fighting back against the trolls.

This shit makes me so much more determined to see this film. I’ll take my whole damn extended family. I’ll adopt an entire circus as my legal children and bring them along with their extended family.

Bring it.

Copyright law is about to change

For more than a year Congress has been holding hearings for the drafting of a brand new US Copyright Act. At its heart is the return of Orphan Works

What does this mean for artists? it means it will make it easier for infringers to steal artists works and harder for people who are making or trying to make a living out of art more difficult. This will effect every artist and all the artwork they have created, are creating, and will be created. Corporates, Big businesses, and publishers want this to pass to make money out off artists works without paying us artists for past, current, and future artwork.

Basic Facts About The Law Being Proposed

 - “The Next Great Copyright Act” would replace all existing copyright law.

 - It would void our Constitutional right to the exclusive control of our work.

 - It would “privilege” the public’s right to use our work.

 - It would “pressure” you to register your work with commercial registries.

 - It would “orphan” unregistered work.

 - It would make orphaned work available for commercial infringement by “good faith” infringers.

 - It would allow others to alter your work and copyright these “derivative works” in their own names.

 - It would affect all visual art: drawings, paintings, sketches, photos, etc.; past, present and future; published and unpublished; domestic and foreign.

** Ways to stop this or preventing these changes from happening**

“Right now nobody has to understand copyright law because you’re protected by it, but under the law they are proposing, copyright law wont protect you anymore.”

According to Will Terry, who uploaded the video:

They are working with big corporations who I will also not name who stand to gain big time. Think about a company that has the largest search engine on the internet…they are putting lots of money behind this because there is a ton of money in controlling and selling all of our work. (x)

Which may explain why Googling the Orphan Works and Next Great Copyright Act yields so little results. Please add any extra information if you have access to it, because I couldn’t find much.

I can’t do much as a foreigner, but I sure as hell can bring it to your attention.
